Lady Gaga performed an emotional rendition of her song “Til It Happens to You” at the Oscars last night, putting sexual assault on college campuses in the spotlight at the awards ceremony. She wrote the song for the documentary The Hunting Ground, which GGP screened in September. She was joined on stage by survivors of sexual assault. Each person had a message of strength written across their forearm.
Lady Gaga was introduced by Vice President Joe Biden, who urged bystanders to speak up if they see a situation where consent has not or cannot be given. Biden urged viewers to visit itsonus.org to take the pledge to intervene in such a situation: “Lets change the culture.”
